So, you’ve got an idea for some branding, a business, a club or whatever with your Bored Ape, Mutant Ape or Doggo and you’ve either got your MBA or applying for it, but the question is, what the heck can you do with it?
It’s an important question to ask and more importantly answer before you go any further.
Now, before we go any further, a disclaimer, this post is correct at time of posting. Any updates to Made by Apes or Bored Ape Yacht Club terms, policies etc. may not be reflected here. You must always check directly before any actions are taken. Please go to the MBA website for the most up to date terms.
What is MBA?
MBA stands for Made by Apes. This is a license operated by Yuga Labs, the company behind the BAYC to give holders of their NFTs to use them for their own entrepreneurial purposes and more.
Each license is attached to the NFT that has applied for it and from a central website, anyone can confirm that the use of a Yuga NFT for a brand etc. is genuine.
Thus enabling NFT holders to get the most out of their NFTs whilst also ensuring that people interacting with them are protected.
Remember, though that the license isn’t an endorsement of the brands, products or services displayed.
How do you get one?
Getting one is very straightforward.
First of all, you need to get your idea setup. Work out what you are going to do, you will need socials and in most cases, having a website will be key. After all, the website is your MBAs piece of web real estate.
To apply, you need to go to the Made by Apes website.
Safety point, make sure that your browser web address reads madeby.boredapeyachtclub.com remember, there are scammers out there looking to take your NFTs through duplicate fake websites.
Then you begin the process by clicking on Request License in the top right and follow the process along, Yuga will then review the request for a license and respond to your application within a few working days.
The website supports the use of delegated wallets through delegate.xyz and warm.xyz. Use this as it’s best for you to stay safe out there!
You will then see your idea on the MBA website under the Bodega section, along with you license number. You’re now ready to use it!
What can I use my MBA for?
Well, almost anything you like. The MBA lists the following, but is by no means limited to;
- Clothing
- Food
- Beverages, including alcoholic
- Restaurants
- Entertainment
- Games
- Derivatives
- Sub-communities
The only cases where you can’t use an MBA are clearly stated as follows;
- No illegal substances
- No slander, profanity or hate speech
- No infringement of other IP
- No obscene/indecent materials
So long as you follow the above you can use your MBA as you like so long as you are using the image in full. However, bear in mind that it doesn’t give you the right to use the BAYC/MAYC skull and/or logo or any other Yuga trademarks. The only exception to this is if your NFT has a logo (say on a cap or a t-shirt) but you cannot make that feature a key part of your branding/products.

How do I use my MBA?
When you get your MBA you will receive a customises MBA logo with your applications license number. This can be used in connection with products, services etc. connected with the approved application, for example, with Ape Concierge.
You can also include the license on your products, say for example, your manufacturing some awesome looking t-shirts with your ape on, you could include the MBA license on a label which will confirm its authenticity.
